Mara Masai Visiting

Church of the Dog by Kaya McLaren,

Church of the Dog by Kaya McLaren,
Mara, a physically gifted art teacher, lives in the old employee quarters behind the McRae House in exchange for helping Earl McRae fix his fences. Earl, an old rancher set in his ways, is intent upon spending his last days putting his affairs in order and waltzing the hours by with his beloved wife, Edith. Eager to live adventurously at every age, Edith continues to entice Earl with fresh roses in her hair and sneak into the night with Mara on Lady Godiva Runs. Edith and Earl's grandson, Daniel leaves his eccentric roommates and comes to visit the ranch, armed with his camera that keeps him safely distant behind a lens, having little idea where it is he's really going. With compassion and wit, Kaya McLaren leads us into a world of astonishing possibility through the distinctive perspectives of four memorable characters. Church of the Dog (the McRae's name for Mara's artistically remolded house) is an exceptional novel of love, friendship, healing and hope. Set in a small town in northeastern Oregon, this book zestfully captures the exquisite complexity of simple lives. It may be considered a tribute to the human spirit and a reminder of how, without always knowing it, we all act as Angels for each other.

These two books are companion volumes to the popular Animal Planet television series, Big Cat Diaries, which explores the history, biology, behavior, conservation, and survival of lions and leopards inside and outside Kenya's 600-square-mile Masai Mara Game Reserve. With their stunning color photographs and fascinating, first-hand narration, the books offer a rare insight into the lives of these magnificent animals. Presenter, author, and photographer Jonathan Scott has written about the Mara cats for over 25 years; his books include Mara-Serengeti, Dawn to Dusk, and Kingdom of Lions. Angie Scott, born and raised in Africa, is an award-winning wildlife photographer.

Keekorok - Keekorok Game Lodge is an hotel/lodge in the Masai Mara Game Reserve in southwest Kenya. It is one of the oldest Game Lodges in the park and is situated on the site of an old hunting camp where it is rumored Ernest Hemingway once camped on one of his many hunting trips to the area.

"Gerald Mara has written a thoughtful, lively, yet wide-ranging book about the contributions of Platonic political philosophy to contemporary debates in political theory. The Plato that emerges provides the grounds for Mara's notion of a 'discursive democracy.' East Africa's most popular tourist destination offers a diverse array of things to see and do, from diving in the warm waters of its beautiful coastline to drifting in a hot-air balloon over the spectacular Masai Mara at sunrise. By showing how Socrates' logos (the insistence that we go beyond ordinary sense for the rational solution of political problems) is tempered by if not opposed to his ergon (the particular behavior within practical discursive contexts) and insisting that Plato is both a metaphysician and an ironist, Mara enriches our understanding of various dialogues and the central subjects of Platonic philosophy and scholarship. Recent evaluations of home visiting programs. He juxtaposes Plato's position, as he understands it, with those of contemporary theorists such as Rorty, Habermas, Barber, Sandel, Rawls, and MacIntyre. Focusing on the speeches and actions of the philosophic significance of the differences between Derrida's treatment of Plato and his own. This Second Edition is a good source for reflection on the hazards and possibilities of democratic politics. "Gerald Mara has written a thoughtful, lively, yet wide-ranging book about the contributions of Platonic philosophy and scholarship.
